Overview

This 7-day “Highlights 2 Countries” tour is an immersive journey through the rich historical tapestry and stunning natural landscapes of Bosnia & Herzegovina, complemented by significant excursions to Croatia’s famed Dalmatian coast. The adventure begins in Sarajevo, where you are immediately introduced to the city’s beautiful Ottoman-style architecture and its authentic ‘carsija’, filled with oriental sweet shops and traditional food. The tour then ventures south into the heart of Herzegovina, a region of breathtaking beauty. You will explore the historic city of Mostar and its iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge) spanning the turquoise-green Neretva River. This leg of the journey is packed with natural wonders, including the beautiful Kravice waterfalls and a visit to Blagaj to see the famous Dervish Tekke at the source of the Buna River, one of the largest and most beautiful springs in Europe.

The itinerary extends to the Adriatic with a day trip to the “UNESCO protected pearl of the Adriatic,” Dubrovnik, and a visit to the historic city of Split, to see its Roman remains and bustling marketplace. The journey back inland offers a stay on the scenic Vlasic mountain and a stop in the historic town of Travnik, home to a medieval fortress and the birthplace of a Nobel Prize winner. The tour also includes a poignant visit to Ahmici village, acknowledging the region’s recent past. The final full day is spent back in Sarajevo, exploring the natural park of Vrelo Bosne, learning about modern history at the Tunnel museum, and enjoying recreational time on the Olympic mountain Bjelasnica, providing a comprehensive and deeply moving conclusion to the tour.

Itinerary

Day 01 :
Sarajevo (D)

Upon arrival at Sarajevo Airport, you will be met for a sightseeing tour of Sarajevo, featuring its beautiful Ottoman-style mosques and architecture, and an authentic Ottoman 'carsija'. A guide will explain famous monuments such as The Old City Hall, Gazi Husrev bey's mosque, the Latin Bridge, and the Old and new Jewish temple. After lunch in a traditional restaurant in the Old Town and free time, you will proceed to the hotel for check-in.

Day 02 :
Sarajevo – Kravice Waterfalls – Mostar (B/L/D)

After breakfast and check-out, you will depart to Konjic and continue to Mostar. You will tour the city, visiting The oldest single arch stone bridge, Cejvan Cehaj Mosque, Koski Mehmed pasa Mosque, and the Biscevica alley, with lunch at a local restaurant on the Neretva River. You will proceed to the Stari Most (Old Bridge). You will also drive to the city of Pocitelj, a famous art colony, and Blagaj, to visit the Dervish Tekke at the source of the Buna River. The day concludes with a visit to the beautiful Kravice waterfalls before transferring back to Mostar for an overnight stay.

Day 03 :
Mostar – Dubrovnik – Mostar (B/L/D)

After breakfast and check-out, you will transfer to Dubrovnik for a city tour of the UNESCO-protected pearl of the Adriatic, including its Cathedral, Rector’s Palace, and the Franciscan Monastery (with its Old Pharmacy). After lunch, optional boat and cable car rides are available, along with free time for shopping. You will then return to Mostar for an overnight stay.

Day 04 :
Mostar – Split – Vlasic (B/L/D)

After breakfast and check-out, you will proceed to Split for a city tour of its main promenade, Roman remains, neoclassical buildings, and marketplace. After lunch in a local restaurant, you will continue to Vlasic mountain for check-in and an overnight stay.

Day 05 :
Vlasic – Travnik – Ahmici – Sarajevo (B/L/D)

After breakfast and check-out, you will depart for Sarajevo. On the way, you will stop in Travnik to visit the medieval fortress, Sulejmanija mosque, the birthhouse of Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andric, and Plava Voda river. You will continue to Ahmici village to visit a massacre place from the past war. After lunch, you will continue to Sarajevo for hotel check-in and an overnight stay.

Day 06 :
Sarajevo (B/L/D)

After breakfast, you will visit Vrelo Bosne and the Tunnel museum. You will then be transferred to the Olympic mountain Bjelasnica to enjoy snow and winter sports. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred to your hotel in the noon hours.

Day 07 :
Departure Sarajevo (B)

After breakfast at the hotel, you will have free time at your own leisure until your departure time to the airport.
